No alerts

This app started out great but lately it hasnt been sending any notifications of when I have messages. My notifications are on and the chat is not on mute. There is isnt even a notification on the app itself to let you know a message is there. Its very frustrating to not know when someone is trying to communicate with me unless I randomly open the app.
